Asbestos Disposal

ASBESTOS REMOVAL

Before removing ANY asbestos material please download and read the information at this link.  If you do not have a PDF reader you can pick up the information at the Solid Waste Services office located at 1411 South Tower Avenue in Centralia. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

If you do not feel qualified to remove the asbestos material on your own please find a qualified contractor to do it for you. Lewis County maintains a list of contractors at the following web page.

ASBESTOS DISPOSAL

Lewis County Solid Waste Services accepts asbestos at the Central Transfer Station located at 1411 South Tower Avenue in Centralia.

Any one wishing to dispose of asbestos at the Central Transfer Station must have an appointment. Appointments must be made 24 hours in advance. Please call the Solid Waste Services supervisor at 360-740-1130 to make your appointment.

All asbestos material must be doubled bagged in approved asbestos bags. You may purchase these bags at the scale house at the Central Transfer Station. The cost is $2.00 per bag.

Fees for asbestos disposal are as follows:

  • * Minimum Fee: $25.90
  • * Per Ton: $87.00
  • The SWRT (solid waste refuse tax) of 3.6 % is additional.
This policy is strictly enforced. Please follow all procedures as notated in the information. Failure to follow the procedures will result in your asbestos load being denied for disposal.
