Mental Health
The State Department of Health has defined mental illness as a public health issue. The Lewis County Public Health and Social Services Department created a Mental Health Liaison position with the primary role to provide leadership in improving mental and behavioral health services in Lewis County. Individual counseling is not available. The mental health liaison:
- Facilitates monthly Mental Health Coalition meetings
- Collaborates with state and local agency mental health providers
- Provides technical assistance for community programs
- Publishes quarterly mental health newsletters
- Speaks about mental health issues to community organizations
