Why does the river gauge say "Pending" or "No Data"? Is the gauge broke?

The readings come directly from USGS gauges. Main rivers have gauges that are typically read hourly by satellite. Some tributaries have gauges that are only read "seasonally" from October to April. The website is set up to check every 15 minutes for a reading on all gauges. That is why you see the message repeated so often.
